# ReturnKindly privacy

ReturnKindly collects the information needed to run and protect the service. It does not use advertising trackers, tracking pixels or analytics cookies, follow users across websites, sell personal information or use it for advertising. Fonts and images are served by the site or device.

## Information used

Owners provide email addresses for sign-in and notifications, item names and codes. Conversations store messages, times and status. The first message is included in the owner's notification email. Finders need no account and are not asked for their name, email, phone number or home address. Personal information included voluntarily in messages or item names is stored.

Temporary sign-in records, sessions and request limits use account identifiers or IP addresses to prevent abuse. Cloudflare hosts the service, stores data, delivers email and processes technical request information and operational logs. Operators may access data to maintain the service, investigate abuse or respond to lawful requests. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Owner account emails and item names are not shown to finders. Messages are visible to the participants in that conversation.

## Essential cookies

Sign-in cookies last up to 10 minutes, owner sessions up to 30 days and finder access up to 120 days. A finder needs the same browser and cookie to return to a conversation. Clearing cookies removes access. Others using a shared browser may see the conversation.

## Retention

Open conversations close after 30 days without activity. Message content is scheduled for deletion 90 days after closure. Basic conversation records, accounts and codes remain. Deleting a code disables new reports rather than erasing previous conversations. Expired sign-in, session and request-limit records are cleaned up regularly. Copies of notification emails in inboxes or provider records are not removed by conversation cleanup.
